Sol Daniel Kim

The Austro-Korean cellist Sol Daniel Kim is quickly establishing a career and name in the classical music world and performs in various Festivals and cultural events throughout Europe and South Korea. Recently he published his first album 'South Wave, North Wind' with his intercultural Duoproject 'CelloGayageum' and received the 'Soorim Cultural Prize' given by the 'Soorim Cultural Foundation' as well as a generous grant from the 'Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture'. In 2017 he performed with Gautier Capuçon together at the Fondation Louis Vuitton being featured at medici tv.

Sol worked and got his musical education with renown teachers such as Valentin Erben (young student), Heinrich Schiff (Bachelor), Jens Peter Maintz (Master) and Danjulo Ishizaka (Konzertexamen), and completed all his studies with distinction. He also participated in numerous master classes with David Geringas, Gary Hoffmann, Frans Helmerson, Anner Bylsma and Wolfgang Boettcher. 

From 2004 to 2010 he was a scholarship holder of the Rostropovich Cello Foundation of the Kronberg Academy and was given a cello by Jon van Kouwenhoven. 

He is currently playing on an instrument from 1825 by Lorenz Mollenberg from Stockholm, which is made available to him by a generous sponsor
