A Summer Evening with Trio Pantoum

We’re excited to share a special collaboration with the Lucens Classique Festival for its fifth edition this summer. This year, the festival introduces a fresh addition to its programme: a Saturday afternoon “tremplin” concert — a springboard performance designed to spotlight young, standout musicians. That’s where our paths naturally crossed.

Aligned with our ongoing mission to support young artists, we’ve joined forces with the festival to present none other than Trio Pantoum, a standout ensemble from the 2023–24 Classeek Ambassador Programme.

A Festival with a Fresh Spirit

Founded by conductor Guillaume Berney and violinist Guillaume Jacot (Orchestre de la Suisse Romande), Lucens Classique offers more than just world-class performances — it’s an immersive cultural experience. Set in the picturesque Lucens castle, the festival blends intimate classical concerts with wine tastings, château tours, and culinary delights, all designed to appeal to a broad and curious audience.

For several years, the idea of creating a concert dedicated to young artists had been on the minds of the Lucens Classique team. In 2025, it becomes a reality. With shared values and a mutual commitment to nurturing emerging musicians, Classeek and Lucens Classique have collaborated to bring this vision to life.

Meet the Trio Pantoum

Formed in 2016 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, Trio Pantoum has quickly made its mark on the international scene. Comprising Hugo Meder (violin), Bo-Geun Park (cello), and Kojiro Okada (piano), the ensemble has earned praise for their rare combination of technical finesse and artistic depth — a musical maturity far beyond their years.

The trio’s name, Pantoum, is inspired by the second movement of Ravel’s piano trio, referencing both a poetic form and a musical ideal: a constant interplay between individual freedom and ensemble cohesion. This spirit of balance and dialogue defines their sound.

Classeek has had the pleasure of supporting the trio through our Ambassador Programme during our 2023-24 season, and we’re proud to see them take the stage at Lucens Classique as part of this new and meaningful partnership.

The Concert Programme

Trio Pantoum will perform two towering works of the piano trio repertoire:

Anton Arenski – Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 32

A richly expressive piece dedicated to cellist Karl Davydov, featuring the unforgettable Elegia movement.

Franz Schubert – Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 99

A masterwork of lyrical brilliance and emotional depth from the Viennese Romantic.

The performance begins at 17:00, and is followed by dinner and evening festivities.

Why not make a full day of it? Before the concert, enjoy a curated wine tasting paired with a tour of the château — a delightful way to ease into the evening. After the performance, stay for the gastronomic dinner prepared by celebrated chef Xavier Bats, whose dedication to artisanal, regional cuisine is at the heart of his culinary philosophy.

And if you’re not ready to leave just yet, the evening continues with concerts by Camille Thomas (cello), Yom (clarinet), and a magical Concert under the Stars with percussionist Samuel Gogniat.
